An Exclusive Evening with Jo Lawry
The Perth International Jazz Festival is thrilled to announce this intimate evening with internationally renowned vocalist Jo Lawry in Perth’s new creative hub, Lawson Flats.
The evening will contribute to the establishment of an International Artist Fund to bring the world’s most outstanding musicians to Perth via ticket sales, while donations on the night are also welcome. Expect to hear some insider announcements regarding the 2023 PIJF in November.
This evening’s special guest, Jo Lawry, has been described by New York Times as a “singer of dazzling self-possession”.
Lawry has released four albums since 2008, after leaving Adelaide for New York, where she lived for 17 years. She has recorded and toured with Sting since 2009 and appeared in the 2013 documentary 20 Feet from Stardom.
Her latest release, Acrobats, has been described by The Sydney Morning Herald as “a gem tossed high in the air, flashing and sparkling – and somehow never falling”.
The Lawson Flats gig will feature the Acrobats trio format, with national musicians Sam Anning on bass and Ben Vanderwal on drums.
Since opening in February, members club Lawson Flats has become a meeting place for Perth’s creative community. Completely lacking in pretence, but filled to overflowing with art, opinions, vintage style and cunningly crafted cocktails, it’s the perfect place to start plotting your jazz-tracked future.
Please note that this event is cocktail style and limited seating is available.
